ABOUT THE CANADIAN EXEMPT MARKET

The exempt market refers to the portion of the Canadian capital markets where certain securities are exempt from prospectus filing requirements.

Securities offered in the exempt market are not publicly traded and are typically only available to a select group of investors who meet certain financial requirements or have a certain level of investing experience or guidance from an exempt market dealing representative.

The exempt market can offer a range of investment opportunities that are not available in the public markets, such as private equity, private debt, hedge funds, and other alternative investments. Some of the most popular products include mortgage investment corporations (MIC) and real estate investment trust (REIT).

These investments may have unique features, such as returns that are not directly correlated to equity market volatility. Making them great for better-diversified portfolios.

Like all investments, exempt market products are not without their risks. The unique profile of private investments makes them suitable for accredited investors or eligible investors who can tolerate a higher level of risk.

Investors must conduct thorough due diligence and carefully evaluate the risks and potential rewards of each investment opportunity.
